Anubias: slow and steady
Anubias grows slowly and prefers low to moderate light. Attach it to a rock or branch and keep the thick rhizome exposed. Its broad leaves add structure to the foreground or a shaded corner.
Java fern: texture without fuss
Java fern does best attached to hardscape. Small dark spots and new plantlets under mature leaves are part of how it reproduces. Remove damaged leaves and give new growth time to settle.
Moss: shelter for the smallest
Java moss gives soft cover to shrimp and fry. Tie down a thin layer rather than a thick clump, and trim it so light and water reach the inner growth. Siphon out loose trimmings after maintenance.
Match light to growth
More light doesn’t mean healthier plants. Start with a modest lighting period, keep conditions steady and watch the plants over several weeks. Use aquarium-safe fertilizer for your setup, and change one thing at a time.
